The Privacy Rule, a Federal law, gives you rights over your health information and sets rules and limits on who can look at and receive your health information. The Privacy Rule applies to all forms of individuals' protected health information, whether electronic, written, or oral. The Security Rule is a Federal law that requires security for health information in electronic form.

Public records include documents in all formats, whether electronic or paper, that relate to government operations or conduct. All of Commerce’s documents are considered public records, and are subject to public review, unless a law specifically exempts certain information from disclosure.

The Tort Claim Act is a Washington State law.
WA State RCW 4.96 (Actions Against Political Subdivisions, Municipal and Quasi-Municipal Corporations) establishes that local government entities in Washington are liable for damages from tortious conduct—their own or their employees'—similar to private entities. It mandates specific claim filing procedures and timelines as a condition for lawsuits.
